![]() ![]() When I built the pantry I needed to add 2 new branch circuits, the problem was my existing panel had no spare positions. What I have discovered with the Lowes Depot's is some of their prices are very good, but out the door with everything needed for a job, their prices are actually higher sometimes much higher in many ways. ![]() Needless to say when we needed paint for the new pantry I built, she went back to Sherwin Williams, now their prices are a bit higher then Lowes Depot, but the quality of their paints and the service and knowledge they provide make it well worth the slightly higher price. She went to pay for the paint she was advised, no charge for the replacement paint, he explained if the match wasn't correct the first time, they will do their best to make it correct for no charge. Other than where it could be seen he applied the paint, it was a perfect match in both color and gloss. He mixed another quart of paint and as she described he spent some time adding something to the paint, he would mix it and apply some of it to the siding scrap and dry it with a heat gun.Īfter a few tries he came back to the counter with the scrap and advised her "mamm this is the best I can do, will this work"? The guy at the store explained it's easy for the mixing system to match the color but the gloss depending on the surface to be applied to is more complex. I had her paint a scrap section of new siding and she went back to Sherwin Williams with the new painted siding and the old siding to be matched. My wife went to Sherwin Williams with a section of the old painted siding and bought a quart of professionally matched paint, the color match was perfect, however the gloss didn't match all that well. I had much better luck at a Sherwin Williams store. When I changed out our front door removing the lights on the left and right of the door, the left one had a real ugly dog door installed in it and the glass had been replaced with an acrylic panel, I had to install a bit of new siding which comes in white ready to paint. Light conditions at the room make it harder to spot the difference. It meets the original Sears paint at a corner and you would not notice it but I know both walls are different color. At the end had to buy more paint using the same color at Home Depot to paint the entire wall. Home Depot's Behr paint has a different sheen than Sears' Easy Living paint. The process is not perfect of course.īut the real problem was not the color, it was the texture of the paint itself. They have a special camera or scanner that takes an image of the paint sample and creates the proper mix of tints for reproducing your color. The original paint was Sears "Easy Living" brand which I believe is manufactured by Sherwin Williams. Tried matching the color at Home Depot with a chip of the original paint from the same wall because they sold you a little can of paint for just a few bucks and I did not want to purchase a whole gallon of paint for touching up the wall. I know I am late to the party but wanted to bring my two cents.Ī few years ago I tried retouching a wall after doing a small DIY project that involved drilling and some minor damage to a wall.
